What a therapist website needs
A therapist website has one job. It helps a nervous person decide you might be the right one to call, and then it makes calling easy. Most of the rest is decoration.
Here is what we think a practice site needs to do that job.
- Say who you help, in plain words. "Anxiety and depression therapy in Seattle" tells a visitor more than "a safe space to heal" ever will. Name the people, the problems and the place.
- Show that you are a real, licensed person. A photo, your credentials and a short, human bio. Google holds mental health pages to a higher standard here too, which our post on YMYL and E-E-A-T explains without the jargon.
- Be clear about fees and insurance. If you are out of network, say so. If you see self-pay clients, our free Good Faith Estimate tool can help you put it in writing.
- Offer one obvious next step. A phone number, a short form or a calendar, visible on every page. Someone deciding whether to reach out will not hunt for it.
- Work well on a phone. Many first visits happen on one, often late at night. If the site is hard to use there, the visit ends.
- Collect as little private information as you can. A form that asks for a name and an email is a safer default than one that asks about symptoms. If a form must collect health details, the tool behind it matters.
- Be easy to keep current. An old fee, a clinician who left or a wrong address quietly costs you inquiries.

Our website options side by side
We build three kinds of site. They differ in speed, in how much of the design is yours to shape, and in how many clinicians they are made for. None is the "better" one. We sell all three because practices are different.
| Criteria | One Week Website | Custom Website | Group Practice Website |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $2,999 one time, or $399/mo for 12 months | From $4,495 | From $6,495 |
| Time to launch | 1 week, once we have your intake form, photos and logo | 10 to 12 weeks | 16 to 18 weeks |
| Pages | Up to 7 | Up to 10 | Up to 20, with a clinician directory |
| Copywriting | Included | Add-on, or bring your own | Add-on, or bring your own |
| Best for | Solo therapists who want to be online soon | Solo and small practices that want a design made around them | Practices with several clinicians, services or locations |
Hosting for the sites we build is a separate monthly plan with no contract. See Website Hosting. If your site is on WordPress, care plans cover updates, backups and security: Essential $110, Plus $199, Partner $399 per month, plus a $197 one-time evaluation & tune-up. The monthly One Week Website already includes hosting and care.
How to choose
- Choose the One Week Website if you are a solo therapist who wants to be online soon, would rather not write your own copy, and are happy with a proven structure made to feel like you.
- Choose a Custom Website if your practice has a distinct feel, you want to see ideas and shape them, and you are playing a longer game.
- Choose the Group Practice Website if you have several clinicians, services or locations and need a directory people can filter.

What a therapist website costs
The honest answer is a wide range, and the price follows three things: who writes the words, how many pages and clinicians the site needs, and who looks after it afterward.
Ours start at $2,999 one time for the One Week Website, $4,495 for a Custom Website and $6,495 for a Group Practice Website. Custom projects get a fixed quote after a free call, so there are no surprises later.
The One Week Website can also be paid monthly: $399 a month for 12 months, which is $4,788 in total. That is more than paying in full, because hosting, security, updates and an hour of small edits each month are folded in. Pay monthly if cash flow matters more than the total. Pay in full if you want to own it outright and add care later.
A builder you set up yourself costs less in cash and more in evenings. That can be a perfectly good choice, and our post on WordPress, Squarespace or custom compares them fairly.
- Whoever builds your site, ask: Do I own the domain and the content? What do I pay each month after launch? Who writes the copy? Can I leave with my site if I want to?
Examples of our work
Two practices we built for. We describe what you can see on their live sites, not what they achieved with them.

Timely Therapy
Anxiety and depression therapy, Seattle, WA

Evolve Therapy & Yoga
Children and teen therapy, Tinley Park, IL
On Timely Therapy, the first thing you read is an invitation, and the specialty and city follow right away. A free phone call is offered as a gentle first step. On Evolve Therapy & Yoga, the page states the ages served, the town, the hours and which insurance plans are accepted, so a parent can answer their practical questions without calling. See more on the Results page, or read nine other therapist websites worth learning from.
Common mistakes we see
- Writing for colleagues. Clients do not search for "integrative modalities". They search for how they feel.
- Putting every specialty on one page. A page per focus, such as anxiety, teens or couples, helps the right person and helps search engines.
- Hiding fees. Silence about money makes people nervous, and nervous people leave.
- Stock photos only. A real photo of you, or your office, builds more trust than any generic image.
- No clear next step. Three competing buttons are the same as none.
- Skipping the phone check. Open your own site on your phone, in bed, at night.
- Not owning the pieces. Know who holds your domain and logins before you sign anything.
- Letting it go stale. Review it twice a year, even if nothing seems to have changed.
Questions we hear about therapist websites
It depends on the option. The One Week Website launches in one week once we have your intake form, photos and logo. A Custom Website takes 10 to 12 weeks, and a Group Practice Website 16 to 18 weeks. If feedback from you takes longer, the dates move with it.
A directory profile is shared space. Every profile looks alike, and you do not control how it ranks or what it costs next year. If referrals keep you full, a profile may be enough for now. If you want to fill openings from people searching, your own site gives you somewhere to tell your story.
More on our FAQ pageThe platform matters less than who keeps it running and whether you can take it with you. Builders are quick to start. WordPress gives you control and needs regular updates. Custom sites are fast and low-maintenance, but edits usually need help. We compare them in detail in our guide.
Read the platform comparisonYou own your domain and all your content from day one, on every option we offer.
On the One Week Website, yes, copy is included. We draft the core pages from your intake form and you refine them until they sound like you. On a Custom or Group Practice Website, you can bring your own copy or add our copywriter, who interviews you first.
Hosting is a separate monthly plan with no contract. The monthly One Week Website ($399/mo for 12 months) already includes hosting, security and updates. If your site runs on WordPress, care plans are Essential $110, Plus $199, Partner $399 per month, plus a $197 one-time evaluation & tune-up.
