Premarital Counseling in Houston
Last reviewed: October 2026
Premarital counseling is a handful of sessions, usually 6 to 10, where you and your partner talk through the stuff that tends to cause trouble later: money, conflict, family, kids, expectations and intimacy. It's not because something's wrong. It's preparation.
There's a Texas bonus too. Couples who complete a qualifying course through the state's Twogether in Texas program get a discount on their marriage license fee. Two practices below say they're part of it.
Below are 10 Houston options, in no particular order.
How we chose: practices in the Houston area whose own website has a dedicated premarital counseling page, that describe their approach, and that look active. No paid placements. Details come from each practice's website as of October 2026.

What to look for in premarital counseling
- Ask if they're a Twogether in Texas provider. If you want the marriage license discount, confirm before you book.
- Ask which program they use. Prepare/Enrich and SYMBIS include an assessment you each fill out. Gottman-based work focuses on how you handle conflict.
- Faith or secular? Several practices offer both. Say what you want up front.
- Check the timeline. Most programs need 6 to 10 sessions, so start a few months before the wedding.
