Christian Counselors in Houston
Last reviewed: October 2026
For many people, faith is central to how they make sense of hard times, and they want a therapist who gets that. Christian counseling brings faith into therapy, through prayer, Scripture or simply a shared worldview, alongside the same clinical methods any good therapist uses.
Two things worth knowing. First, practices vary a lot in how much faith shows up in sessions. Some let you choose; others build every session around it. Second, not every "Christian counselor" is state-licensed. We focused on practices with licensed counselors and noted where faith is optional.
Below are 10 Houston options, in no particular order.
How we chose: practices in the Houston area whose own website has a dedicated Christian counseling page or describes faith-integrated care, with licensed counselors, and that look active. No paid placements. Details come from each practice's website as of October 2026.

What to look for in a Christian counselor
- Check the license. LPC, LMFT, LCSW and psychologist are state licenses. "Biblical" or "pastoral" counselors may not be licensed.
- Ask how faith shows up in sessions. Prayer every time, only if you ask, or a shared worldview in the background. Pick what fits you.
- Ask about denomination if it matters. Some practices are tied to a specific church or tradition.
- Clinical methods still matter. A good Christian counselor should also name evidence-based approaches like CBT or EMDR.
